Carol Saunders is Atkins’s receptionist. I haven’t
seen her in a long time. She looks terrific. She tells me things aren’t good in the
upper echelons. The Cyanide Killer is making important people nervous. Life is getting difficult
for my new captain and he’s looking to deflect blame.
Atkins walks in. Says he’s concerned about my lack
of progress on the CK case and wants to assign me a partner. Then he asks about
my plans for retirement.
